Former Vice Chairman of General Motors, Bob Lutz, in his matter-of-fact style, proudly proclaims in a video released from Via Motors that he will unveil three new electric vehicles (EVs) from the company during the Detroit Auto Show next week.
Lutz, a member of Via’s board of directors, says in the brief video that he will unveil “something that has never been seen before.”
Lutz says this mystery vehicle is called the X–Truck, and that it promises to be the most advanced technology, full-size electric truck in the world, and is good for “up to 800 horsepower.”
The new truck will have four-wheel-drive, with “the torque of a monster truck,” but will also offer 100 mpg according to Lutz.
“It will have the fuel economy that makes a Prius look like a gas guzzler,” boasts Lutz in the video.
Another Via vehicle he will unveil is an “Escalade-class” SUV that is also four-wheel-drive, and will “drive like a Volt.” Lutz states this forthcoming EV will also provide 100 mpg during “typical driving.”
Lutz, dubbed the father of the Chevy Volt, and an unabashed supporter of EV technology enthuses that the Via unveilings will be “electrifying.”
The 2013 North American International Auto Show, aka the Detroit Auto Show, begins next Monday, January 14 and ends on January 27.
