Infiniti originally led us to believe the Q50 sedan was going to entirely replace Infiniti’s well known G37. It looks like the G37 hybrid is gone, but some versions of the G37 will soldier-on.
Infiniti announced August 5 that a revised line-up of the Infiniti G37 sedan models will continue to be available in the United States through model year 2015 alongside the all-new Infiniti Q50.
Infiniti said base Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (M.S.R.P.) are being repositioned to reflect the product hierarchy with the higher content 2014 Infiniti Q50 – which will go on sale this week at Infiniti retailers nationwide.
“The introduction of the Q50 with its distinctive design, engaging performance, world’s first technologies and unmatched levels of connectivity and personalization, enables us to pursue a two-pronged strategy, said Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore. “It creates room to strategically offer the repositioned G37 at the lower end of the near luxury segment in addition to the higher-positioned Q50. The two vehicles aim at different market segments and allow us to serve different customer needs.”
Two models of the Infiniti G37 Sedan will continue to be produced as 2014 models, the G37 Sedan Journey ($32,550) and G37 Sedan AWD ($34,150). Only two options will be available, the Premium and Navigation Packages
Meanwhile, the new 2014 Infiniti Q50 is offered in a choice of 328-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 or 360 net horsepower 3.5-liter Hybrid models.
