The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has given five stars in all categories to the Tesla Model S following its first crash testing under federal guidelines.
Five stars – the highest score possible – were granted for each of three tests. These were the frontal impact test, the side impact and rollover test.
Beyond this Tesla topped the charts with five stars for protecting both the driver and passengers.
Other cars that have scored similarly are the 2013 Kia Optima, Honda Accord and Volvo S60.
Further details can be seen on safercar.gov.
