In Beijing this week, Bentley is again showing its all-wheel-drive EXP 9 F Concept SUV with options open for a V6 plug-in hybrid powertrain capable of 18.6 miles all-electric range.
The vehicle was introduced last month in Geneva and its premium non-hybrid version would have a 600-horsepower W12, plus another option would be a 500-horsepower V8.
As for the hybrid version, well it too would promise spirited performance while offering a concession to the environment.
The V6 plug-in hybrid is said to have CO2 emissions of 130g/km, yet still be capable of a 0 to 62 mph in less than 5 seconds.
You can tell us what you think of the vehicle’s styling, which the automaker has taken pains to portray as “unmistakably Bentley” while venturing far afield from the bold yet svelte sedans it
has long been known to design.
To let everyone know the EXP 9 F is intended to be far more than mom’s chic taxi, the company leans back on its laurels, evoking the names of great Bentleys of yesteryear such as the “bespoke Mulsanne and the high performance Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur.”
This new stylized fast box on wheels is ready to take its place alongside these legends, the company says. Plus, it offers a spacious, versatile cabin, commanding driving position, and all the styling and accoutrements one would expect from a Bentley.

Here's a video from last month produced by our sister publication, AutoGuide.
It’s said to be a “new take” on the grand touring Bentley equally at home at an opera gala performance, on sand dunes, and the overtaking lane of the Autobahn.
"We are very excited by the potential of a high performance, ultra-luxury Bentley SUV. Since we first showed EXP 9 F at Geneva, the response has been overwhelming,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive, Bentley Motors. “Everyone seems to agree that an SUV is a natural fit for Bentley. An exciting range of drivetrain options including a hybrid V6 are under active consideration but one thing is for sure, any Bentley SUV would offer the thunderous performance for which the marque is renowned."
What do you think? Assuming they produce it, will it be a hit, a miss, or a take it or leave it proposition?
