Yesterday Honda began production of its Accord Hybrid in Ohio due to go on sales nationally this year, and in the process noted its fuel economy is 50 mpg city, 45 mpg highway, 47 mpg combined.
Honda says the midsized 2014 Accord Hybrid is the “new leader in gasoline fuel-economy ratings among 4-door sedans” and estimates it’s range at 673 miles on a tank of gas.
Its economy ratings rival the midsized Ford Fusion Hybrid’s 47 mpg in city, highway and combined that proponents say can be achieved, but critics, including many reviewers and people pushing lawsuits against Ford, say it cannot.

Honda’s new hybrid actually got a small bump up from initial estimates, and it will join the limited-market Accord Plug-in Hybrid and regular Accord, and Honda says it will be a strong choice for shoppers.
“Even before it hits showrooms this fall, the Accord Hybrid is already surpassing the competition and claiming segment leadership,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of auto operations at American Honda. “For customers looking for a 50 mpg rated 4-door sedan, there is no other choice than the 2014 Accord Hybrid.”
The automaker added that the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid is ts first hybrid vehicle produced in Ohio. Production at the plant in Marysville adds to existing Civic Hybrid production in Greensburg, Ind.
