Xatori, maker of "innovative" software for electric vehicles, is offering a special deal related to its flagship app, PlugShare. Xatori and peer-to-peer firm Getaround have teamed up to reward select PlugShare users $50 for sharing their plug-in vehicles on Getaround's marketplace.
The PlugShare app allows iPhone, iPad, iPod and Android users to share "outlets." Members can share high-speed J1772 plugs or standard 120-volt outlets. PlugShare includes an up-to-date listing of public charging stations and is available free of charge by clicking here.
Getaround is a peer-to-peer-based car-service where plug-in vehicle owners agree to put their wheels up for rent on an hourly, daily or even a weekly basis. The vehicle owners set the rates and Getaround pairs up "buyers" with "sellers." To become a Getaround member, click here.
PlugShare and Getaround announced the incentive in celebration of National Plug In Day last Sunday. The day may have been celebrated coast-to-coast, but the communities eligible to get the $50 bonus are limited to the San Francisco Bay Area and metropolitan San Diego.
