Yesterday during a live blog interview, Tesla CEO and co-founder Elon Musk pre-announced the broad brush picture of what the company plans to hold a call-in press conference for later today: it will triple its Supercharger network making coast-to–coast travel possible in a Model S.
“OK, I might as well let the cat out of the bag,” Musk said as he explained “something cool called the Supercharger.”
The DC fast chargers that are offered to Model S owners to recharge for no fees were – from their unveiling last September – planned for nationwide coverage, and the timing of these early on plans will be made more clear at an announcement planned for Thursday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. Pacific time.
This was a map offered in October 2012. Let’s see how close the map is tomorrow to this.
But here’s Musk’s quote on what the news will be:
“The announcement: There’s going to be a dramatic acceleration of the SuperCharging network. It’ll be tripled. We’ll put the map live tomorrow,” said Musk.
Naturally, we’ll have more for you after the official press conference.
