Three ribbon-cutting and community events will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2012, to celebrate the expansion of the West Coast Electric Highway in Washington State.

These ribbon-cutting and community events will mark the opening of charging stations along Interstate-5. This opening will be made in partnership with charging station partner AeroVironment.

Governor Chris Gregoire and local officials, electric vehicle (EV) drivers and business people will be on-site to mark the event.

The three stations are located in Bellingham’s Sehome Village Shopping Center; Burlington’s The Outlet Shoppes at Burlington; and at the Custer Southbound Safety Rest Area, 6.6 miles south of Blaine, Wash.

This event follows the March opening of the first phase of the West Coast Electric Highway, in southern Oregon. The West Coast Electric Highway is anticipated to eventually stretch along Interstate 5 from the Canadian to Mexican borders.
