Yesterday, officials in Los Angeles unveiled the California city’s first fast charger.
The Blink DC fast charger, which can charge a Nissan Leaf and other EVs in roughly 30 minutes, is located in an Arts District public parking lot next to a suite of 10 standard EV chargers.
The public parking lot is located at 660 Mateo St. in Los Angeles; right across from Linear City's Biscuit Company and Toy Factory Lofts.
The project's developer, Yuval Ben-Zemer, co-founder and CEO of the Linear City Development, is considered by Plug In America to be a visionary who believes that electric cars are the future; he owns a Nissan Leaf and just leased two for the Wheelz car-sharing program. Ben-Zemer envisions a sustainable LA where loft-dwellers share zero-emission cars and walk to the grocery and eateries selling farm-to-fork food.
L.A. City Councilman Jose Huizar was on hand to unveil the charger with Michael LoGrande, Director, Dept. of City Planning for the City of Los Angeles. Chris Paine, director of "Revenge of the Electric Car" and "Who Killed the Electric Car" and Scott LaBass of ECOtality also attended the event.
