Toyota will use the Paris motor show to take the wraps off a comprehensively renewed range of models for the European family/compact car market. This reveal will include a hybrid version of the new Auris.

Built exclusively in Britain at Toyota’s Burnaston factory, its maker says it will have a more individual design, a higher quality interior, better driving dynamics and increased efficiency across its powertrain line-up.

Toyota expects this renewed model will further reinforce in consumers’ minds the company’s commitment to bring its market-leading full hybrid technology to the widest possible market.

From day one of sales, the Auris will be available with gas, diesel and full hybrid power. Moreover, Toyota expects a roughly equal one-third split in the European sales mix for each engine type, reflecting how it has moved hybrid to the mainstream. In the UK, the sales mix for hybrid is expected to be even higher, approaching 40 percent.

The revised Hybrid Synergy Drive system in the new Auris Hybrid will deliver a power to CO2 emissions ratio of more than 1.5 bhp for each g/km. No other technical information about the car has been released.

Other green Toyota vehicles on display will be the Toyota Racing TS030 Hybrid WEC race car, FCV-R fuel cell vehicle, Prius Plug-in and Yaris Hybrid.

Knowing the Auris shares many components with the Corolla, and that a new Corolla is a year away for North America, we wonder if this hybrid system will find its way into the next generation of North American Corolla.
