The Volt may have seen one of its fervent proponents walk away, but its European cousin, the Ampera E-REV, has garnered yet another gong for its trophy cabinet. UK’s Sunday Times awarded it “Best Electric Car and Hybrid.”
Sunday Times Driving – the paper’s new motoring section, which replaces In Gear – has launched with a “Top 100 Cars” section, and the judging panel put the Ampera a clear first in the eco-car group.
“The Ampera offers excellent and silent performance and all-electric transport,” said a spokesperson. “It’s a brilliant solution. But it’s no less brilliant than the execution of the rest of the car. The Ampera is also a great-looking car inside and out, comfortable on a long journey and easy to understand and operate.”
The prestigious award joins a growing list of accolades and trophies for the Ampera, which reached UK showrooms in May this year.
